Kathryn Vaughan
Women's Program Coordinator and Communications
Kathryn serves alongside Kennon wearing several different hats! While she serves as Kennon's right hand woman, her main responsibilities include the direction and leadership of DownLine's women's discipleship training program and keeping DownLine's supporters and students informed through the ministry's newsletter and web site.
Before marrying Kennon and joining the DownLine team she was the director of media and public relations for American Family Association (AFA) where she developed and orchestrated strategies to effectively communicate to the public as well as local and national press the importance of defending and promoting traditional family values.
Before joining AFA, Kathryn spent time in Washington, D.C. with Concerned Women for America where she researched and wrote weekly articles on women's issues for the Beverly LaHaye Institute. Her articles were reprinted as resource brochures at the request of doctors and pregnancy centers as well as for legislative materials in Congress. This experience led to opportunities for Kathryn to speak to young women about abstinence. Following CWA, she attended the Focus on the Family Institute and worked in the office of the chairman, Dr. James Dobson, researching for Dobson's book projects and national radio broadcast.
Kathryn enjoys writing and has been published in National Review Online , The Washington Times, The Tennessean , Touchstone weblog, AFA Journal and AgapePress.
Kathryn graduated from Mississippi State University with a communication degree and is passionate about communicating the importance of God's design for marriage, family, Biblical womanhood, and discipleship.
