Your program year as an Emerging Leader will have SIX ASPECTS, or components, meant to stretch, sharpen, encourage, and equip you for a life of world impact for Jesus Christ!
This is DownLine's top notch discipleship training program that includes curriculum in 4 areas:
Bible -
You will be exegetically taught the Books of Genesis-Nehemiah, Matthew, Acts, Romans, Ephesians, Hebrews, Revelation by the best local teaching pastors and teachers in the city
Disciple-Making -
You will be versed philosophically and practically in the lost art of making disciples in order to be equipped to be effectively enlisted in the Great Commission
Manhood/ Womanhood -
You will be taught what it is to be and live as a man or woman of God in your generation according to the Scriptures
Spiritual Life -
You will be trained in different areas of Spiritual Life by several of the heroes in the faith alive today in order to holistically develop you spiritually

This is the opportunity to serve 12-15 hours per week in an urban ministry that DL has strategically partnered with for city-wide impact. DownLine has partnered with over a dozen healthy ministries who have great visions for making a difference for Christ in the city, but desperately need humble leaders who know their Word and are willing to serve…that's where YOU come in!!
We feel like this opportunity will give you a platform to unleash your training in a desperate environment to be a blessing on countless individuals and children. This opportunity IS A REQUIREMENT as part of your Emerging Leaders program.
DL will host a ministry fair one Saturday morning early in the year where you will be introduced to all of the possible ministries where you can serve. You will then have about a month to check out your favorites, or the ones that interest you most. By an assigned date given in class, you will be serving in one ministry 12-15 hours each week under the accountability and direction of the ministry head. This too will be a great opportunity to see and work alongside incredibly gifted men and women in our city.
This the opportunity to be discipled by a man or woman of God who has graduated from a previous DL class. We have dozens of amazing Alumni who are passionate about investing themselves into young men and women for the purpose of building them into maturing, reproducing followers of Jesus Christ. Each student in the program will have a discipler who takes special interest in their personal and spiritual development.
iEach student will live in a DownLine house which holds 6-8 students. This will provide an opportunity for you to get to know young leaders like yourself from around the country in a real and personal way. We honestly believe some of you will develop lifetime friends, accountability partners, and teammates in the Gospel through these living arrangements.
Each student will find a part-time job to cover your overhead expenses. Overhead expenses include your housing ($250-$300 per month plus utilities, depending on which house you are in), health insurance (which we encourage you to get), food (though you will be surprised at how many meals are provided you by loving alumni and families), gas money (boo!!), and social money.
We have done the math, and if you work 20-25 hours at roughly $8 per hour, you should bring in between $600-$700 per month, which allows you to live under the circumstances we have provided. If you would like to raise some support to offset your costs, or full support so that you can spend more time studying and doing ministry in the city, we are open to that arrangement, and can discuss this with you further upon your application.
Every student has the opportunity and is encouraged to participate in a DL International trip in order that he or she might experience what Christ is doing around the globe and be further taken by a passion for global impact. Choose from 6 different trips spanning 4 continents and go oversees with a team of your classmates in order to train pastors and lay leaders in disciple-making. This trip will be the most strategic "missions" trip you have ever been on and will leave in motion an ever increasing disciple-making movement in its wake. We believe that this 1 or 2 week trip, alongside your new friends and teammates from the EL Program, is as valuable itself as the rest of the program combined.
EACH ASPECT of this program has been strategically designed to shape you in a way that will transform your life. Not only will you learn seminary level Bible and disciple-making in the classroom, but the process will be modeled for you in a real discipleship relationship as you also receive hands on ministry experience and on the job mentoring from experienced ministry directors while living in community with others experiencing the same thing!!
